Walking heavy: Britains most notorious reformed criminal
The first documentary was about a reformed notorious British criminal Jason Coghlan who had changed his criminal ways and decided to set up a law firm for criminal justice. His acts in the past haunt him as he has started his new life in Spain. He frequently visits his hometown of Manchester in the UK. He says how he gained a lot of success from illegal activities and tells us about his "impressive" past. The whole documentary in itself is coming form his perspective and shows how he interprets the world through his eyes. So in terms of perspective this documentary would be seen to have a subjective view and also has a very opinionated aspect to it as the subject aways talks about what he thinks of things such as the federal government and how the criminal justice system is unfair.
The whole documentary is subjective because it is coming from one sides point of view featuring their opinions. This can influence the audience as it makes the audience start to think and sympathise with him. The documentary featured different interviews with people coming from the same party as Jason. This still shows how the documentary can be one sided and bias. The documentary hardly has a neutral view to it as its focused on this mans life story and how he came to be what he is today. In terms of representation I would say that Jason Coghlan is not represented in one way, he has talked about what he had done in the past such as stealing cars, robbing banks etc which does not set up a positive image for him. He then talks about the change he made in his life to get away from his past, so after going to prison he had decided to set up a law firm with a friend and has been serving many clients all of which have a 100% success rate in their cases.
How Pablo Escobars Legacy of violence drives todays cartel wars
This documentary is about the notorious drug lord that is Pablo Escobar and the influence he had on young criminals all around Colombia today. Pablo Escobar was the mastermind of drug trafficking and narco terrorism in Colombia during the 1980's. The documentary has a subjective view coming from the federals at the time and present day. The whole documentary tells us how Escobar had caused many issues such as drug trafficking and Mass murders across Colombia and the coast. This documentary features many of Escobars accomplices telling interviewees how he thought and how he liked things getting done.
Although Pablo Escobar was known for thousands of murders and money fraud involving drugs. He did dedicate a large proportion of his money to develop homes, schools and hospitals around the local area. However the documentary did not emphasis or focus enough of this part of Escobar like they did when talking about all the negative things he had done. This shows a biased point of view as the federals were always against him. This lead on to the point that the way in which Pablo Escobar was represented was very negative which can be seen as fair in a way as he did commit many crimes. The documentary can have the affect on audiences that this kind of "business" is a harsh commitment and can cause serious trouble for you and the people around you.
