Narrative Arc to my documentary
The message I will be conveying from my documentary will be bringing up the issue of the lack of Asian footballers in the UK. The documentary will be following me through my own journey as an asian trying to become a footballer. With expert opinions and many different views from different races my documentary will gather an view as whole for this certain topic
1) My documentary will start off with some Archive footage of most of the stadiums in the Barclays premier league and then I will fade it with my local pitches and parks so there is the link between my life and the professional football lifestyle. This will be covered with a voice over of me talking about my experiences growing up in the area I did and then talking about my dreams of becoming a professional footballer. during this i faced many racial problems.
2) I will then get some interviews I have arranged with certain heads of football associations. For example I got in touch with the head of Tower Hamlets Football league to talk and ask him about his footballing experience and then ask him some questions so he can add some information to my documentary. I will also be getting in touch with my old teams and primary school to show my past in football.
3) The next part in my documentary will be me going to a highly populated Asian area (East London, Mile End) and ask some random youths their perspective on my topic and ask them if they have had any experiences they wanna share with me within the documentary. By doing this I will be going into further detail on the Asian community and I will be trying to get an elder view on the topic e.g. Parents or community centre leaders. I will then in comparison go to an area which isn't populated with Asians heavily and ask the same questions so that I get a even view from society.
4) Ending off my documentary I will be ending it with my view and final experiences as this will show a view coming from my perspective and i will finish off with some rhetorical questions asking if society is gonna let/have the number of asians taking part in professional football, This will allow the audience to make their own decision and see what can be done as a solution or maybe it will change the view on this specific race when it comes to professional football in the UK.
